Redact a PDF permanently

Remove confidential text and areas from a PDF so they cannot be recovered — all inside the browser, with the document never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Open the PDF Editor (a FileX Pro feature) and load your document.
  2. Mark the areas to redact and flatten them into the page.
  3. Export the redacted PDF, safe to distribute.

Redaction vs. metadata

Redaction removes visible content; it does not touch document properties. Pair it with Remove metadata from a PDF to strip author, software, and timestamps too.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real redaction or just a black rectangle?

The redaction is flattened into the exported PDF so the underlying content is not retained. And because FileX is client-side, the sensitive document is never uploaded.
