What gets removed
FileX blanks the Dublin Core document properties (title, subject, author, keywords, category, created/modified dates, revision number) and the Company/Manager fields, then deletes the custom-properties part entirely, since it can hold anything an organization chose to store there — project codes, classification labels, internal IDs. Everything else in the file, including all document content, is passed through unchanged.
What this does not cover
This clears document properties, not the visible content. It does not scan for names inside tracked changes, comments, or speaker notes — review those separately if your document has them.
Frequently asked questions
Is the file uploaded to be cleaned?
No. The file is unzipped, its metadata parts are rewritten, and it is rezipped entirely in your browser using the self-hosted fflate library. Nothing leaves your device.
Will the document still open normally afterward?
Yes. Only the docProps metadata parts are modified or removed; every worksheet, slide, paragraph, and embedded media file is preserved exactly as-is.
