Send an encrypted secret note
Need to send a password, an address, or a private message without leaving it in plaintext across email and chat logs? Encrypt it into a self-contained note that only the right password can open.
Open this tool in FileX →Free · runs 100% in your browser · no upload, no account
How it works
- Type or paste your message into the Secret Note tool.
- Set a password — used to derive an AES-256 key locally.
- Share the encrypted note; deliver the password by a different channel (say, a phone call).
Why not just send it in a chat
Plaintext secrets linger in message history, backups, and notification previews long after you forget about them. An encrypted note is meaningless to anyone without the password, so a leaked chat log leaks nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Is the note stored on a server with a link?
No. FileX is 100% client-side — there is no server to store notes. The encryption happens in your browser and the encrypted output is yours to send however you like.
